Wear Your Heart On Your Sleeve
Block Printing to Customize Your Clothing
Ever wonder what your clothes say about you? In this hands-on workshop, we’ll make our clothes speak for themselves while exploring a simple printing technique that can be done from home. We’ll use relief printmaking to stamp clothing and fabric, revamping your wardrobe – or maybe a T-shirt – so that it says something about you using image, text, or both.
Workshop Time and Date: April 8 at 7 p.m. CT
Workshop Lead: Suzie Treinen ’93
Meet Suzie Treinen ’93
Ever since she was a kid, Suzie has loved making things. She grew up in Iowa, went to Grinnell, got her MFA in printmaking, moved to NYC with her boyfriend (now husband) Chris Lowery ’92, designed craft projects for books and magazines, waited tables, worked as an artist’s assistant, graphic designer and illustrator, became a mom, a teaching artist and now an art teacher at The Spence School in Manhattan. She’s riding out the pandemic in Brooklyn, New York with Chris (also an artist), their two college-aged daughters Ruby and Stella ’24 (both super arty) and her dog (he’s not an artist, but Suzie made his dog bed.) We told you she likes making things!
