Grinnell-in-the-Twin Cities:
MayDay Puppet Making Workshop
Join fellow Grinnell alumni as we build puppets for In the Heart of the Beast Puppet and Mask Theatre's MayDay Parade. In the Heart of the Beast's annual MayDay Parade, Ceremony, and Festival has been a vibrant example of art as community building in the Twin Cities area for 43 years and is attended by over 50,000 people each year. The larger-than-life puppets are created throughout the month of April by community members working under the direction of artists. Join the Grinnell-in-the-Twin Cities community as we work together to build puppets for this year's parade!
1–3 p.m. Saturday, April 15
In the Heart of the Beast Puppet and Mask Theatre
1500 East Lake Street
Minneapolis, Minn. 55407
Following our puppet shift, we'll gather to socialize at the home of In Heart of the Beast's executive director, Corrie Zoll '92. Families are welcome to participate in this event. Participants should wear painting clothes and are encouraged to bring recycled items such as small plastic tubs with lids, brown paper bags, newspapers, fabric, sheets, latex paint, bamboo, and scissors. Check out Heart of the Beast's full materials wish list.
This event is free, but donations for the theatre are welcome! Please be sure to register so we know how many people to plan for. Register with the Office of Development & Alumni Relations online below or by phone at 866-850-1846 by Monday, April 10.
We hope you can join us!
