Why I Wanted to Serve on the Alumni Council:

I feel very fortunate to have benefited in all the ways I have from Grinnell. The personal and professional connections I built as a student stuck with me, and to this day I spend a lot of time with other Grinnellians. I appreciate the chance to give back to the community that supported me. Every chance I've had to interact with current Grinnell students, such as care package distribution, working with reunion student staff, or hosting externs, I've enjoyed hearing about the amazing things they're doing. I look forward to doing my part to continue to make Grinnell a nurturing institution for students and alumni.

A Quote I Like:

“A ship in a harbor is safe, but that's not what a ship is built for.”

―Grace Hopper

A Little Bit About Me:

I'm an artist who designs experiences. That means that I start with a feeling or a message I want to get across, and figure out how to convey that to my participants with a variety of tools such as game design, writing, interactive performance, installation, film, chatbot, and so on. I also work with graduate students at the University of Minnesota in several programs: Arts and Cultural Leadership, Civic Engagement, and Sexual and Gender Health. I split my time between rural northern Minnesota and Minneapolis, and spend a lot of time outdoors canoeing, snowshoeing, biking, and learning to identify lichen.
