Reunion Volunteer Social Media Toolkit

Thank you for helping build excitement for Reunion! Your personal outreach and social media posts are some of the most effective ways to encourage classmates to reconnect, register, and celebrate together in Grinnell.

The best Reunion posts are authentic. Share your memories, your excitement, and your reasons for returning. A simple post from a trusted classmate can inspire others to join in.

Quick Start 

Use the Reunion Hashtag

Include #Grinnell Reunion in your posts. This makes it easier for classmates and the College to find, engage with, and share Reunion content.

Tag Grinnell Alumni Relations

  • Instagram – please tag @grinnellalumni
  • Facebook – please tag @grinnellcollegealumni 

Tagging helps expand the reach of your post and allows the Alumni Relations team to engage with and share your content.

Include the Reunion Website

When appropriate, link classmates to: alumni.grinnell.edu/reunion

The Reunion website includes:

  • Registration information
  • Schedule and events
  • Frequently Asked Questions
  • Who's coming (available after registration opens Feb 1)
  • Travel and lodging details
  • Updates and announcements

What Makes a Great Reunion Post?

The most successful posts are personal and genuine.

Consider sharing:

  • Why you're excited to return to campus
  • A favorite Grinnell memory
  • The friends you're looking forward to seeing
  • A Reunion event you're excited about
  • Photos from previous Reunions
  • Throwback photos from your students days
  • A favorite campus location
  • What makes your class special

Keep It Positive and Inclusive

As a Reunion volunteer, you're helping represent your class and Grinnell College. When selecting photos:

  • Choose images that celebrate friendship, connection, learning, and community.
  • Ensure photos are respectful and appropriate for a broad audience.
  • Use good judgment when sharing images that include alcohol. Casual social settings may be appropriate; images that appear to promote excessive drinking should be avoided.

Easy Ways to Participate

1. Share or Repost Alumni Relations Content

One of the easiest ways to help is by sharing posts from @grinnellalumni: 

Try adding a personal note such as:

  • Hope to see lots of classmates back on campus this spring!
  • Who's coming to Reunion?
  • Just registered. Can't wait!
  • Counting down the days until Reunion!

Don't forget to:

  • Tag @grinnellalumni
  • Include #GrinnellReunion
  • Link to the Reunion website when possible

2. Post a Story

Stories are a great way to create excitement and encourage quick connection.

Image Ideas

  • A photo from a past Reunion
  • A favorite Grinnell memory
  • A throwback campus photo
  • A photo of your class friends
  • A current photo of a favorite campus spot

Caption Ideas

  • Who's coming to Reunion this year?
  • Can't wait to be back in Grinnell!
  • Just registered. Have you?
  • Looking forward to seeing old friends and making new memories.

3. Create Your Own Post

Personal posts often generate the most engagement because classmates want to hear from you.

I'm looking forward to returning to campus for #GrinnellReunion and reconnecting with classmates. Hope to see many of you there! Register at alumni.grinnell.edu/reunion. @grinnellcollegealumni

Example 2: Memory-Based

One of my favorite Grinnell memories is [insert memory]. I can't wait to revisit campus and reconnect with friends at #Grinnell Reunion. Will I see you there?

Class of XXXX, let's make this Reunion one to remember! Register today and join us for a great weekend of connection, memories, and celebration. #GrinnellReunion

Engagement Tips

Want your post to reach more classmates?

  • Ask a question.
  • Tag classmates you hope to see.
  • Share photos whenever possible.
  • Post after you've registered.
  • Comment on and share other Reunion posts.
  • Celebrate milestones such as "100 classmates registered!"

Facebook Event

When the official Reunion Facebook Event becomes available:

  • Mark yourself as Going
  • Invite classmates
  • Engage with event posts
  • Share the event link with your class network

The more classmates who interact with the event, the more visibility it receives.
