Why I Wanted to Serve on the Alumni Council:

Grinnell gave me so much when I was a student, and it continues to have direct and ongoing effects on my personal and professional lives. I want to make sure that future generations of Grinnell students continue to have access to incredible opportunities and find more ways that we can connect alumni with staff, faculty, and current students.

A Quote I Like:

"We all do better when we all do better."

—Paul Wellstone

A Little Bit About Me:

After living in Vermont, Iowa, New York, California, and Australia, I'm currently living on the North Shore of Lake Superior and serve as Dean of the College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences at the University of Minnesota Duluth. While I miss seeing kangaroos hanging around outside the grocery store like I did in Canberra, I'm thrilled to be so close to my favorite Great Lake (and even enjoy winter in northern Minnesota--most of the time).

Outside of work, I am a (not necessarily speedy) runner and a solidly average skier, have a deep and abiding fondness for bowties, and stop to pet most dogs.

Other Alumni Involvement: Past GRASP Volunteer, Class Fund Director
