Swimming & Diving Virtual Reunion
We know that 2020 hasn't turned out quite like anyone had hoped. We too are sad that we can't gather in-person for our annual Grinnell College Swimming & Diving Reunion. However, we aren't going to let 2020 stop our fun!
Coach Erin Hurley and Coach Tim Hammond join the Office of Development and Alumni Relations to invite you to join our first Swimming & Diving Virtual Reunion. Much like a traditional reunion weekend on campus, there will be a variety of events for you to attend, opportunities to connect with current swimmers and divers, and moments to relive your favorite memories as a Grinnell athlete. Each day of the Virtual Reunion includes an engaging event as well as a unique social media challenge to participate in. Please view the full schedule below.
Schedule of Events
Wednesday, Nov. 11
Kick-Off & Social
7–8 p.m. Central
Join your fellow Grinnell alumni and current Grinnell College Swimming and Diving students for a virtual Reunion kick-off and social. At the social, hear updates from Coach Hurley and Coach Hammond, and share funny and poignant stories with each other by answering questions like, “What was the best mishap I experienced or witnessed while I was a swimmer or diver?” or “Which memory still pulls at my heart strings from when I was a swimmer/diver?”
Swim/Dive after Dark
8 p.m. Central
Having too much fun to stop catching up? Use the nightly Swim/Dive After Dark time to keep the conversation going. We will keep the Zoom room from the previous event open each evening for as long as alumni and students want. Share great stories, laugh together, and reminisce into the evening just as you would during a traditional Reunion!

Thursday, Nov. 12
Swim Dive Networking
7–8:30 p.m. Central
In today’s economy, networking is more important than ever! We invite current students and alumni to gather for a virtual networking session. Participants can join breakout rooms based on their industry (STEM fields, Arts, Media, and Communication, etc.) to discuss current trends and opportunities in that field.

Topic: Best Meet Photo
Instructions: Using the #GCSDReunion post a picture from a swimming and diving meet on your favorite social media platform. Bonus points if Grinnell won that meet!
Friday, November 13
Swimming and Diving Virtual Pub Quiz
7–8:30 p.m. Central
Show off your trivia skills at our first Swimming and Diving Virtual Pub Quiz. We will have three rounds of trivia—a Grinnell College round, a GC Swimming & Diving round, and a surprise theme round. Teams will be randomly matched although couples will be kept together if they wish. The winning team will receive small prizes.

Topic: Still Friends
Instructions: Using the #GCSDReunion post a picture of you and another Grinnell swimmer and diver from your time at Grinnell that you are still friends with today.
Saturday, November 14
GC Home Scavenger Hunt (Family-Friendly!)
11 a.m–12 p.m. Central
Led by current students, you and your kids are invited to participate in virtual home scavenger hunt. Keep an eye out for your Grinnell memorabilia, mundane items like paper clips and socks, and much more!
Open Mic Night
7–8 p.m. Central
Join us for our wrap-up event for our virtual Swim/Dive Reunion 2020. Take turns “at the mic” sharing your favorite Grinnell memories and experiences! Each person will have up to 3 minutes to share a beloved story!

Virtual Memory Book: Day 4
Topic: Your Favorite Memory
Instructions: Using the #GCSDReunion post a picture of your favorite memory from your time as a swimmer or diver at Grinnell. Make sure to tag any other Grinnellians in the picture and say why it’s your favorite memory!

If you would like to attend any or all of these events, register here by Monday, November 9. You will be provided with the Zoom links for each event as well as follow-up information as the virtual Reunion approaches. There is no cost for any of these events.
