Arctic Lights return to Gates-Rawson Tower

December 16, 2021 — More than 150 Grinnell College students, faculty, and staff gathered on campus Dec. 2 to celebrate a luminous holiday tradition.

Established in 2015 as a community-building event by Austin Cotes ‘15, the Grinnell College Student Alumni Council organizes an annual event to light up Gates-Rawson Tower. Because of the pandemic, a dessert decorating contest was held in 2020 in lieu of an in-person celebration.

The in-person festivities resumed this year. Attendees lit sparklers, ate donuts, decorated sugar cookies, and enjoyed the lights and each other’s company.
