Soccer and Tennis Alumni Weekend
Dear Soccer and Tennis Alumni,
Our decisions during the pandemic have focused on community health conditions and projections; the safety and well-being of our campus and alumni community continues to be our highest priority. We were so excited to welcome alumni back to campus for the soccer and tennis alumni weekend, but the continued surge of the Delta variant has changed the circumstances around our gathering.
After talking with our teams, fellow colleagues, and College administration, we have made the difficult decision to cancel the soccer and tennis alumni activities planned for next weekend.
In addition to the protection of our alumni community, we are committed to preserving the health of our student-athletes and doing everything in our power to enable them to have a complete season without any Covid-related interruptions. Despite going into this year’s celebration with the best of intentions, we just do not feel we can safely proceed and risk our students’ competitive and academic experience. To this end, if you still decide to return to Grinnell despite the cancellation of this event, we ask you to please support our community by not gathering with current student-athletes.
Thank you for your patience, your understanding, and your support of your fellow soccer and tennis alums and current students. We very much wish the situation were different and all look forward to being together on the Grinnell campus in 2022. Until then, take very good care of yourselves and your loved ones.
Be in touch with any questions or concerns.
