Why I Wanted to Serve on the Alumni Council:
I've been quite involved with the online alum community and with the Wilson Program for the past several years, and maintain very active connections to the expanded Grinnell community. I've also been working in higher ed innovation, particularly around the future of learning, the impact of multi-generational connections for the future of work, and the role of technology in all of this, so this seemed like a perfect way to formalize my deep affection for the College into real action.
A Quote I Like:
“Everything in the universe is constantly changing, and nothing stays the same, and we must understand how quickly time flows by if we are to wake up and truly live our lives.”
―Ruth Ozeki, from her novel, A Tale for the Time Being
A Little Bit About Me:
My work falls into two broad categories. First, I am an advisor to a range of start-ups in AI, education, games, music and virtual reality. I also collaborate with a group of consultants who work with mission-driven organizations (for-profit, non-profit, academic and government) who seek help in aligning their mission with actionable strategies and operational plans. Prior to all this, I had a more typical career as an executive in large corporations in the game and digital media industry, and led several start-ups as well.
Other Alumni Involvement: Lecturer for the Wilson Program
