Grinnell wins CASE awards

June 18, 2020 — Grinnell College’s Office of Development and Alumni Relations (DAR) was awarded two prestigious Circle of Excellence awards on June 10 by the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (better known by the acronym, CASE).

The College received a gold award – the highest honor – in the category of fundraising publication for its printed materials about the importance of building a culture of philanthropy at Grinnell College. The case statement titled, “In Pursuit of the Greater Good,” makes personal – through stories, intimate imagery, and a clear statement of Grinnell’s goals and values – the significance of providing philanthropic support to the students and academic mission of the College. An awards judge noted “this case statement stands out because of its clean design that effectively captures the Grinnell ‘brand’ – in its tone, intelligence, people orientation, and humor.” Numerous members of the Grinnell College Campaign Committee, DAR, and the Office of Communications had a hand in producing the publication.

Additionally, the College received a silver award for the Senior Prom in the category of student-led philanthropy initiatives. The event, which was planned and executed by the 2019 senior class gift committee and the 2019 class ambassadors, served as a final push for the gift committee's fundraising goals and the ambassador’s goals to build class affinity. Held at Hotel Grinnell, the festivities included a silent auction, appetizers, and dancing. Award judges were impressed by the partnerships garnered across campus and in the community to gather resources and meet goals.
