Grinnell-in-Puget Sound: Summer Picnic

The Grinnell-in-Puget Sound Regional Planning Committee, the Office of Development and Alumni Relations, and the Office of Admission invite all members of the Grinnell community and their families in the Seattle area to the Grinnell-in-Puget Sound summer picnic. See old friends, make new ones, and give a special welcome to the just-graduated class of 2017 and the entering class of 2021.

Please register with the Office of Development and Alumni Relations online below or by phone at 866-850-1846. Online registration will remain open through Sunday, July 16. Please note that the Registered Attendees list to the left does not display the names of all participants and therefore is not fully representative.

Please bring a dish to share with others based on the list below.

If your last name begins with:
A–H ― please bring a dessert
I–P ― please bring a beverage to share
Q–Z ― please bring an appetizer, side dish, salad, or finger food

The Grinnell-in-Puget Sound Regional Planning Committee will provide the main dish (both meat and vegetarian options), as well as the plates, napkins, cups, and utensils.

Directions

Madrona Park is accessible by bus, car, or bike. The picnic shelter is visible from the road and is right along the water (with a swimming beach near the picnic shelter!). There is a parking lot south of the picnic shelter and the Spectrum Dance Theater; street parking is available in the surrounding area. For handicap accessibility and food unloading, there is a load in/out area by the picnic shelter.

Coming from North of Seattle: Take I-5 South to exit 168B for WA-520 E (0.9 miles). Take the Montlake Boulevard exit, turn right onto Montlake Place East and continue onto 24th Avenue East (0.7 miles). Turn left onto Boyer Avenue East (0.2 miles); turn right onto Lake Washington Boulevard (2.1 miles). Madrona Park picnic shelter will be on your left. 

Coming from South of Seattle: Take I-5 North to exit 163 for Columbian Way. Use the left 2 lanes to turn left on Spokane Street (0.5 miles). Turn left on 23rd Avenue South (0.4 miles); turn right on South McClellan Street (0.7 miles). Turn left onto Lake Park Drive South (0.3 miles). Turn left onto Lake Washington Boulevard South (0.2 miles). Continue onto Lakeside Avenue South (1.2 miles). Continue onto Lake Washington Boulevard (0.5 miles). Madrona Park picnic shelter will be on your right.
