Grinnell Alumni Virtual Lunch & Discuss
Did you love the great conversations you would have at Grinnell? Do you still enjoy diving in and learning more about a topic?
If so, grab your lunch and join us for a monthly virtual "Lunch & Discuss" session. Every second Thursday of the month at noon, gather with Grinnellians on Zoom to discuss a topic chosen by that session's alumni host. A few days before the lunch, the host will email the links of a few related articles for the group to read in advance of the conversation. The host and topic changes for each session so there is always something new to learn and talk about!
The Grinnell-in-Philadelphia Regional Network started the lunch & discuss virtual gatherings a year ago and participants all have shared that the discussions have been a wonderful way for them to engage in meaningful conversations each month and to meet new Grinnellians. We are excited to now expand these discussions to all Grinnellians in the Philadelphia, New York City, Southern New England, and Boston Regional Networks.
Check back as we will add the new session soon after the previous session has past.
Host: Hank Balikov '67
Discussion topic: Personal Choices in Transportation
President Biden's infrastructure plan includes large funds directed at expanding electric vehicles and charging stations across the nation. Similarly, trucking industries and car manufacturers are exploring and perfecting self-driving car technology. In this lunch discussion, we will discuss the issues and challenges surrounding these innovations and how they might impact our lives in a post-pandemic world.
