Grinnell-in-Los Angeles: Storyboard Workshop & Community Reception
Join Dodge Greenley '11, storyboard artist at Nickelodeon Animation Studio, for a storyboard making workshop and an afternoon of getting to know your local Grinnell community! Storyboarding is the drawing of a scene for a movie or TV show before it is shot or animated. In some ways, it's similar to a comic strip in that it visualizes and narrates a story in framed images. Dodge will introduce us to the basics of storyboarding, and will lead us through drawing and narrating our own storyboard sequences. And don't worry about your drawing skills — this workshop is about trying something new while getting to know some of your fellow Grinnellians in the area!
4–6 p.m. Saturday, April 15
Rise-N-Grind Coffee and Juice Bar
6501 Hollywood Blvd.
Hollywood, Calif. 90028
The storyboard workshop will begin soon after 4 p.m., so please plan to arrive promptly if you plan to participate. The workshop will be approximately 45 minutes long and will be followed by time to connect with your fellow Grinnellians and to discuss the future of Grinnell-in-Los Angeles community events. Anna Halpin-Healy '13, assistant director of alumni relations, will be there to discuss the Office of Development and Alumni Relations' interest in Grinnell-in-Los Angeles regional planning efforts. If you are interested in helping to organize local alumni events, would like to share your experience with doing so in the past, or would just like to share some ideas, we hope you will plan to attend! Your input is important to making Grinnell-in-Los Angeles events a success.
Please register for this event with the Office of Development & Alumni Relations online below or by phone at 866-850-1846 by Thursday, April 13. If you have any questions, please contact Anna at halpinhe2@grinnell.edu or 641-269-3186.
