The Newbery Medal

99 Years of Excellence in Books for Children

The gold Newbery seal on the cover of a children's book signals excellence and distinction, but just how does it get there? Former Newbery Chair Thom Barthelmess will share the history of the Newbery Medal, explore the terms and criteria used to define its distinction, and consider its application in contemporary contexts.

Workshop Time and Date: April 18 at 5 p.m. CT
Workshop Lead: Thom Barthelmess ’87
