Why I Wanted to Serve on the Alumni Council:

Finding Grinnell was a critical part of finding my life path and intentionally living out my values. Joining the Alumni Council is my way of paying it forward for so many that helped me in my experience. I want to contribute my insights and passion to help make Grinnell an even greater experience for students. Grinnellians have an important role to play in the world, more than ever, and it takes communities like ours to make real change happen.

A Quote I Like:

"Tienes que dejar cualquier lugar al que tu vayas mejor que cuando primero lo encontraste / You always have to leave a place better than when you first found it."

―Norma Garcia, Graciela's mother

A Little Bit About Me:

I work within a healthcare start-up around health navigation and am passionate about health access for all. I have been involved in the trenches of the Affordable Care Act implementation in Chicago since graduating from Grinnell. My life passions include music, community organizing, and social justice. As a Posse Scholar, I am passionate about the mission of The Posse Foundation. Posse identifies unique students through a different recruitment lens. I'm passionate about seeing that legacy be used to support other future Grinnellians as I was as a first generation student. Without Posse, I never would have found Grinnell or myself.

Other Alumni Involvement: Reunion Planning Committee, Multicultural Reunion Planning Committee
