Why I Wanted to Serve on the Alumni Council:

I’m thankful to Grinnell College for contributing to my personal development and I believe in reciprocation. For example, I received a career development grant from Daniel and Patricia Jipp Finkelman when I was a student, which allowed me to accept an unpaid internship at New York Fashion Week. That experience was part of my successful application to receive a Fulbright grant to conduct research on “The Economic and Social Implications of Fashion in Vietnam” after graduation. I wish to contribute to the health and longevity of the college for the benefit of past, present, and future generations of community members.

A Quote I Like:

“When another person makes you suffer, it is because he suffers deeply within himself, and his suffering is spilling over. He does not need punishment; he needs help. That's the message he is sending.”

―Thich Nhat Hanh

A Little Bit About Me:

I work as the VP of Marketing at SuperLayer, a web3 crypto venture studio. I began my technology career at Slide (acquired by Google), then was the first VP of Marketing at Life360 (IPO on ASX). I've developed expertise in web3, having led marketing for two Top 100 cryptocurrency projects (Kadena and TrustToken).

I go by Butterfly in spiritual spaces in which I am a facilitator and healer, occupying the intersection of queer and BIPOC identities. I am honored to serve on the board of directors of the Buddhist Peace Fellowship. To learn more, visit my website at www.tonyopham.com
