Why I Wanted to Serve on the Alumni Council:
I’m thankful to Grinnell College for contributing to my personal development and I believe in reciprocation. For example, I received a career development grant from Daniel and Patricia Jipp Finkelman when I was a student, which allowed me to accept an unpaid internship at New York Fashion Week. That experience was part of my successful application to receive a Fulbright grant to conduct research on “The Economic and Social Implications of Fashion in Vietnam” after graduation. I wish to contribute to the health and longevity of the college for the benefit of past, present, and future generations of community members.
A Quote I Like:
“When another person makes you suffer, it is because he suffers deeply within himself, and his suffering is spilling over. He does not need punishment; he needs help. That's the message he is sending.”
―Thich Nhat Hanh
A Little Bit About Me:
I work as a fractional CMO for various crypto and AI startups including Kava and Superlayer portfolio companies. I began my technology career at Slide (acquired by Google), then was the first VP of Marketing at Life360 (IPO on ASX).
I go by Butterfly in spiritual spaces in which I am a facilitator and healer, occupying the intersection of queer and BIPOC identities. I am honored to serve on the national board of directors of MADD (Mothers Against Drunk Driving). To learn more, visit my website at www.tonyopham.com
