Cameo Carlson '93
Grinnell Major: Political Science
Alumni Student Connections Committee, Alumni Awards Committee
Cameo discovered Grinnell by chance and chalks it up as one of many happy accidents in her life. After enjoying a successful ride as the host of KDIC's "Music to Solve Your Rubik's Cube," Cameo turned her passion for music and her Grinnell education into a successful career in the music industry. She has been a morning show disc jockey (while finishing up a graduate degree at the University of Missouri-Columbia), an Internetradio pioneer (earning herself two U.S. patents for online music programming software), the original head of Music Programming and Label Relations for iTunes, and the executive vice president of Universal Motown Republic Group in New York City. She currently works at an artist management company in Nashville, overseeing the digital and business development opportunities for artists like Lady Antebellum, Keith Urban, and My Morning Jacket.
When she's not geeking out over music, she's trash-talking all NFL teams that are not the Seahawks or Chiefs, enjoying some award-winning BBQ from her husband (and professional angler) Mike Haggerty, reuniting with her Gladys House Grinnell gals and being a crazy dog lady.
