During college, Ann was a member of Grinnell Singers, and the student conductor in her senior year. She was active in opera workshops, musical theater, and sang Punk songs with the campus band, "Irving and the Constrictors." Majoring in music, Ann graduated with honors, and continued singing wherever she could including performing with the San Francisco Bach Society, The New Hampshire Summer Opera Festival, the Fort Wayne Philharmonic Society, and the Wichita Symphony Chorus.

Ann's volunteer experiences include serving as a Grinnell Preschool teaching assistant, symphony docent, Fort Wayne Suzuki Guild Member, presenting art lessons, and interviewing prospective students as North Texas GRASP Coordinator. In her forties, Ann went back to school to learn about art and became an art teacher, teaching K-12 at the Dallas Arts Studio. In her spare time, while not supervising Nigel Barker, her rambunctious Pembroke Welsh Corgi, Ann paints, and studies ceramics at Brookhaven College.
