Tribute
I was thrilled to be asked to dedicate a room to Professor Walker. As a professor of biology, he was instrumental in bringing the first transmission electron microscope to Grinnell College, exciting many of his students in learning cell structure and function, in addition to the physics of electron imaging. Professor Walker became Dean of Administration during my years at Grinnell and was front and center during a very tumultuous time in Grinnell's history. In his capacity as Dean, he helped me through a rough patch during my senior year after which my career success in electron microscopy would not have happened. It is hoped that this room will foster the sharing of ideas and ideals among students and faculty, as they had been shared with me, going forward.
