Tribute Message

President Emeritus Raynard S. Kington served as Grinnell College’s 13th President from 2010 – 2020. Kington’s tenure was marked by strategic and inclusive leadership; clear, thoughtful, and fair decision-making processes; and fierce advocacy for access, equity, and global understanding. Rooted in a deep commitment to social responsibility, his presidency brought Grinnell into national conversations about major educational issues. His commitment to an innovative and responsive teaching and learning community for all Grinnellians is on full display here, at Grinnell’s Humanities and Social Studies Center.
