The Tip of the Iceberg
What do Orchestra Conductors Really Do?
When we see an orchestra conductor at work, it might appear that they are simply waving their arms to keep the ensemble together, but this impression belies the true nature of the conductor's craft. In this lecture, we'll examine the role of an orchestra conductor and the range of skills necessary for someone to lead a symphony orchestra. Upon deeper examination, we might find that a concert performance by a conductor on the podium is just the tip of the iceberg.
