Kevin Nguyen '19

As the social media intern for the Center for Careers, Life, and Service, I’m responsible for creating marketing materials for the CLS, helping with the center’s branding, and managing its social media. Through my work, I help students match their interests with potential careers and prepare to pursue those careers.

I’m a first-generation college student, and searching for a college or university as a first-gen student is undoubtedly different from the process of a middle-class student whose parents went to college. I found Grinnell through the Posse Foundation, whose mission is to change the face of leadership on campus and beyond.

I have an independent major in international entrepreneurship. The entrepreneurship side is marketing and branding — I’m taking as many of those courses here as I can. As for the international side, I’ll learn the languages of immigrants who come to the United States. I already speak Vietnamese and Spanish, and I’m taking Mandarin and French right now. The hope is that after I graduate from the College, I’ll be able to combine my marketing and language skills. Your gifts give me opportunity.
